GATE photo and signature size

Photograph
- Size: 200–530 × 260–690 px (Any size from 200 x 260 to 530 x 690 px is allowed; 350 x 450 px keeps the 3.5 x 4.5 cm shape.); the tool uses 350 × 450 px
- File size: 5–600 KB
- Format: JPG
- JPEG/JPG, 200 x 260 to 530 x 690 pixels, aspect ratio 0.66–0.89, 5–600 KB, white background.
Signature
- Size: 250–580 × 80–180 px (Any size from 250 x 80 to 580 x 180 px with width 2.75–3.75 times height; 480 x 150 px is inside both rules.); the tool uses 480 × 150 px
- File size: 3–300 KB
- Format: JPG
- JPEG/JPG, 250 x 80 to 580 x 180 pixels, height:width 1:2.75 to 1:3.75, 3–300 KB, black or dark blue ink.
What the notice also says
- The photo must be a good-quality colour passport-size photo (3.5 cm wide x 4.5 cm high).
- The background must be white, with no other objects or people.
- After cropping, your face must cover 60–70% of the photo, clearly visible and not covered by cloth or shadow.
- Head coverings are not allowed except for religious reasons. Normal spectacles are allowed; remove them if they cause glare.
- Photo width ÷ height must be between 0.66 and 0.89.
- Sign in black or dark blue ink only. The signature must fill 70–80% of the image after cropping.
- Signature width must be 2.75 to 3.75 times its height.
If your notice says something else
Rules change between years and between posts. If your notice gives other numbers, follow the notice: open the photo tool and type its numbers in.
