How to merge PDFs for a form

  1. Tap Choose PDFs or photos and pick the files. You can pick several at once and add more later.
  2. Put them in order with ↑ and ↓; ✕ removes one.
  3. If the form gives a limit, type it in Maximum KB. For printed documents, also tick Black and white.
  4. Tap Make my file, open the PDF to check every page, and download it.

When a form asks for one PDF

Admission and recruitment portals often have a single upload for "all certificates" or "educational documents": mark sheets, degree, caste or income certificate, experience letters. They want one PDF under a limit such as 500 KB or 1 MB. Merge the files here in the order the notice lists them.

What happens to the pages

Pages from your PDFs are copied as they are, so typed text stays sharp and can still be selected. Photos are placed on A4 pages, turned to landscape when the photo is wide. If you set a limit and the joined PDF is bigger, every page is saved again as a picture at the resolution and quality that fit, as the PDF compressor does; the text then reads the same but can no longer be selected.

Worked example

A 2-page mark sheet PDF of 900 KB, a degree certificate PDF of 1.6 MB and a phone photo of a caste certificate, merged with a 500 KB limit: the joined PDF has 4 pages and is about 3 MB, so the tool redraws the pages at a lower resolution until it fits, about 120 KB a page.

Questions people ask

Can I merge photos and PDFs together?
Yes. Add JPG, PNG or WEBP photos alongside PDFs; each photo becomes one A4 page, in the order you set.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. pdf-lib and pdf.js, two open-source libraries, join the files inside your browser. Nothing leaves your phone or computer.
My PDF has a password. Can I merge it?
A PDF that asks for a password to open must be unlocked first. A PDF that opens without a password but blocks editing is added as pictures of its pages.
How many files can I merge?
Up to 200 pages in all. When the joined PDF has to be made smaller to meet a KB limit, up to 50 pages.
The merged PDF is too big for the form. What now?
Type the limit in Maximum KB and make it again. If the pages blur, tick Black and white, or leave out pages the form does not need with the split tool.
