Exams with no age limit
- JEE Main 2026: "For appearing in the JEE (Main) - 2026, there is no age limit for the candidates." (Information Bulletin JEE (Main) 2026, NTA, section 3.1)
- CUET UG 2026: "For appearing in the CUET (UG) - 2026, there is no age limit for the candidates." (CUET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin, NTA, section 3.1)
- GATE 2027: "NO. There is NO age limit to appear for GATE 2027." (GATE 2027 FAQs, IIT Madras)
The CTET September 2026 bulletin has no age rule at all. Colleges and employers can still set their own.
Exams not listed yet
We add a preset only when we have read the age rule in the official notice ourselves. We have not yet been able to read these notices: UPSC (Civil Services, NDA, CDS, CAPF); IBPS PO and Clerk; SBI PO 2026-27; Agniveer; RRB NTPC and ALP; SSC CGL, MTS and GD. For these, choose My own date and limits and type the cut-off date and limits from your notice.
How to check your age for an exam
- Pick your exam under Exam. Its cut-off date and age limits fill in from the official notice. If your exam is not in the list, choose My own date and limits and type the "age as on" date and the limits from your notice.
- Enter your date of birth as it is in your Class 10 certificate.
- Choose your category, and tick PwBD if you have a benchmark disability. The relaxation in years fills in.
- Read your exact age on the cut-off date, whether you are within the limit, and the dates of birth your category allows.
How notices count age
A notice fixes one date, the cut-off date ("age as on 01-08-2026"), and your age is counted on that day only, not on the day you apply or sit the exam. A limit of 20 to 28 years means you must have turned 20 by that day and must not yet have turned 28 on it. That is why notices also print a pair of dates: the SBI Clerk 2026 notice says "not below 20 years and not above 28 years as on 01.04.2026, i.e. candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.04.1998 and not later than 01.04.2006 (both days inclusive)". Someone born on 01.04.1998 turns 28 on the cut-off date itself and is over the limit. The calculator works the dates out the same way, so you can compare them with your notice.
Category relaxation
The SSC, SBI and RRB notices above add 3 years to the upper age limit for OBC (non-creamy layer) and 5 years for SC and ST. Persons with benchmark disabilities get 10 years (General and EWS), 13 years (OBC) or 15 years (SC and ST) instead. EWS candidates have the same limit as General in all three. Ex-servicemen, widows, government employees and some others have their own rules, which differ from notice to notice: read them in your notice, then choose My own date and limits and type the years in Relaxation.
Relaxations do not add up: the SBI and RRB notices both say a candidate who qualifies on two grounds gets one of them, not both. Some relaxations also depend on the vacancy: the RRB Group D notice says SC, ST and OBC candidates applying against unreserved vacancies get no age relaxation.
Worked example
Riya was born on 15 June 2001 and is applying for SBI Clerk 2026, whose notice counts age on 1 April 2026. On that day she is 24 years, 9 months and 17 days old. The limit is 20 to 28 years and she is OBC, so her upper limit is 28 + 3 = 31: she is within it. She turns 31 on 15 June 2032, so with the same limit, any cut-off date before that day keeps her within it.
Which date of birth to use
Use the date in your Class 10 (matriculation) certificate. The SSC CHSL 2026 notice accepts the date of birth in the Matriculation or Secondary Examination certificate and allows no later change, and the RRB Group D notice says any difference in the date of birth leads to disqualification.
Your date of birth stays with you

Questions people ask
- What does "age as on" mean in a notice?
- It is the cut-off date: the one day on which your age is counted for the limit. Your age on any other day, such as the last date to apply or the exam day, does not matter.
- What if I turn the upper age on the cut-off date?
- Then you are over the limit. In the notices checked here, a limit of "not above 28 years" means you must not yet have turned 28 on the cut-off date. If you turn 28 the day after it, you are within the limit.
- How many years of relaxation do OBC, SC and ST get?
- In the SSC, SBI and RRB notices on this page: 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) and 5 years for SC and ST, added to the upper limit. State government notices often differ, so check yours.
- Do EWS candidates get age relaxation?
- Not in the SSC CHSL, SBI Clerk or RRB Group D notices: EWS candidates have the same age limit as General. EWS candidates with a benchmark disability get the same 10 years as General PwBD candidates.
- Is there an age limit for NEET, JEE Main or CUET?
- NEET UG 2026 needs you to be 17 by 31 December 2026 (born on or before 31.12.2009) and has no upper limit. The JEE Main 2026 and CUET UG 2026 bulletins say there is no age limit, though colleges can have their own rules.
- Is my date of birth saved or sent anywhere?
- No. The calculator works in your browser, and nothing you type leaves your device or is kept after you close the page.
