How to join a photo and a signature

  1. Choose your photo, then a photo or scan of your signature on white paper. See how to sign for online forms.
  2. Move the box on the photo so your face sits inside the dashed oval.
  3. Choose Signature below the photo or beside the photo, and the size your form asks for.
  4. Set the KB range from the notice, then tap Make my file and download the JPG.

When a form asks for one image

Most forms take the photo and the signature as two separate uploads. Some state recruitment, university and scholarship portals, and some offline forms, ask for both in a single image instead. Follow the size in your notice: if it gives one size for the joined image, type it in Width and Height; if it gives a size for the photo, use that width and add room for the signature below it.

What the tool does to the signature

It finds where the ink is and cuts away the empty paper around it, then whitens the paper so shadows and grey tones from a phone photo disappear. The signature is placed whole in its part of the image, never stretched. If a faint signature loses strokes, lower Whiten the paper; if the paper still looks grey, raise it.

Worked example

With the starting settings, the joined image is 300 × 480 pixels: the photo fills the top 300 × 384 (the 3.5 × 4.5 cm shape) and the signature sits in the 300 × 96 strip below. Saved under 50 KB, it usually lands at 20 to 35 KB at high quality.

Questions people ask

Can I put the signature beside the photo?
Yes. Choose Signature beside the photo; the image then starts at 600 × 384 pixels, half photo and half signature. Change the width, height and the signature part to match your form.
My signature looks faint or broken. What do I do?
Lower Whiten the paper, or sign again with a black or dark blue pen and take the picture in daylight without shadows.
The form says between 20 and 50 KB. Will the file pass?
Yes. Type 20 in Minimum KB and 50 in Maximum KB. The file is kept under 50 KB however the portal counts a KB, and padded up to the minimum if it comes out smaller, without changing the picture.
Are my photo and signature uploaded?
No. Both are joined by your own browser and never leave your phone or computer.
