How to resize your signature
- Sign in black ink on plain white paper, a little larger than usual. Many notices, including SBI's and IPPB's, do not accept a signature in capital letters.
- Photograph it from straight above in good light, with no shadow of the phone.
- Choose it here. Move the box tightly around the signature.
- Keep Whiten the paper on: it turns the grey paper white and darkens the ink, which also makes the file smaller.
- Tap Make my file.
Why signatures come out too small in KB
A clean signature on white is mostly empty space, which JPEG stores in very few bytes: a 140 × 60 signature is often only 3 to 6 KB. Forms that ask for 10 to 20 KB would reject it as too small. The tool keeps the picture as it is and adds empty padding inside the file to reach the minimum: the signature itself does not change.
Worked example
A signature photographed at 4000 × 3000 pixels is cropped to the 140:60 shape, its paper whitened, and saved at 95% quality: 4.8 KB. With Minimum KB 10, filler bytes bring the file to about 10.3 KB, inside 10 to 20 KB.
Questions people ask
- What is the signature size for most forms?
- Many banking and recruitment forms use 140 × 60 pixels and 10 to 20 KB, but check your notice; NTA and UPSC use different sizes. Our exam pages list them.
- Should the signature be in black or blue ink?
- Most notices ask for black ink; some allow blue. Black on white gives the clearest scan.
- Can I sign on my phone screen instead?
- Most notices ask for a signature on paper, scanned or photographed. A finger-drawn signature may not match the one you sign at the exam.
- Why is my signature rejected even at the right size?
- Common causes: capital letters, a signature too faint to read, or a grey background. Whiten the paper and crop tightly.
