How to make the thumb impression
- Press your left thumb on a blue or black ink pad, then once firmly on white paper. Do not smudge.
- Photograph or scan it from straight above.

Worked example
A thumb impression photographed at 3000 × 4000 is cropped square, cleaned and saved at 240 × 240 pixels. A clear impression gives about 12 to 25 KB at high quality; if it is under 20 KB, the file is padded to pass the minimum.
