How to compress many images at once
- Tap Choose photos and pick up to 50.
- Type the Maximum KB for each photo; it starts at 200.
- If you want, choose a smaller Pixel size as well.
- Tap Compress and download the photos one by one or as one ZIP.
How each photo is made smaller
Each photo is saved at the highest JPG quality that fits under the limit. If even 55% quality is too big, the pixel size is lowered step by step until it fits, so faces and text stay clear instead of turning blocky. The limit is counted the strict way, 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so the files pass portals that count either way; see KB, MB and bytes.
Many photos, or one exam photo
This page is for sets of photos: pages of a document photographed on a phone, a portfolio, product photos, or photos for an email with a size limit. For one exam photo or signature with an exact pixel size and a minimum KB, Compress image is the better tool: it crops, sets the pixel size and DPI, and can raise a file to the minimum.
Worked example
12 phone photos of documents, 2.5 to 4 MB each, with the maximum at 200 KB: 12 JPGs, each under 200 KB, in one ZIP named compressed-photos.zip. In Safari, iPhone HEIC photos in the set come out as JPGs too.
Questions people ask
- Can I compress many photos to 100 KB at once?
- Yes. Type 100 as the Maximum KB for each photo; every photo comes out under 100 KB.
- Will the photos lose quality?
- As little as the limit allows: the tool picks the highest quality that fits, and lowers the pixel size only when it must.
- Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?
- In Safari on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, yes: they are saved as JPG. Other browsers cannot open HEIC photos.
- Are the photos uploaded?
- No. Everything happens in your own browser.
