Why add a watermark

When you send a copy of your Aadhaar, PAN, passport or mark sheet, a line across it saying who it is for and why, such as Only for KYC at ABC Bank, Oct 2026, makes the copy harder to reuse for anything else. A watermark also marks drafts (DRAFT), samples (SAMPLE) and copies (COPY) so nobody takes them for the final or original document.

How to add a watermark

  1. Tap Choose a PDF.
  2. Type the Watermark text. Hindi works as well as English.
  3. Choose the Colour, How dark, the Direction (corner to corner, or straight across the middle) and the Size.
  4. Tap Make my file, check the page shown, and download it.

What changes in the file

The text is drawn over every page, see-through, so what is under it still reads, and it turns with each page so it looks the same on all of them. The pages underneath do not change: typed text stays sharp and searchable. The text is stored once for the whole PDF, so the file grows by about 5 to 15 KB however many pages it has.

Worked example

Before emailing a 2-page PDF of your Aadhaar for a rent agreement, type Only for rent agreement, Oct 2026, choose Red and Light, and keep Corner to corner. Both pages get the line across them, and the details under it still read. Where the full Aadhaar number is not needed, the masked Aadhaar from UIDAI, which hides the first eight digits, protects you further.

Questions people ask

Can I write the watermark in Hindi?
Yes. Type it in Hindi, English or both; it is drawn with your phone's own fonts, so it looks as it does on screen.
Will the watermark hide the text under it?
No. It is see-through. Choose Light for documents with small print, and Dark when it has to stand out.
Can someone remove the watermark?
Someone with a PDF editor could remove a watermark added as a layer. To make it part of the page, also run the marked PDF through the PDF compressor, which saves every page as a picture with the watermark in it.
Does it change my pages?
Only by adding the watermark on top. The text and pictures underneath stay as they were.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The watermark is added by your own browser, and your document never leaves your phone or computer.
