Rotate PDF pages
Choose a PDF, turn the pages that are sideways, and download it.
Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
…
Why PDF pages come out sideways
- A phone scan of a document photographed in landscape, or a page held upside down.
- A wide page, such as a mark sheet, fee receipt or table, saved sideways by the scanner.
- One certificate in a set that was put in the scanner the wrong way.
Portals and officers open the file as it is saved, so a sideways page stays sideways for them even if your phone's viewer turned it for you.
How to rotate a PDF
- Tap Choose a PDF. Every page appears as a small picture.
- Tap ⟳ under a page to turn it a quarter to the right, or ⟲ to turn it left. Tap twice to turn it upside down. Turn all right and Turn all left turn every page at once.
- Tap Make my file. The first page of the new PDF is shown so you can check it, then download it.
What changes in the file
Only the turn of each page. A PDF page carries a setting that tells every reader which way up to show it; the tool changes that setting and leaves the page itself alone. Typed text stays sharp and can still be selected, scans are not redrawn, and when you only turn pages, the PDF keeps its bookmarks, links and form fields. You can also move and remove pages here; to see every page in a bigger grid while you do, use Organize PDF pages.
Worked example
A 4-page scan of a mark sheet set where page 3, a wide consolidated mark sheet, came out lying on its side. Tap ⟲ under page 3 so its top points up, then Make my file. The new PDF has the same 4 pages and about the same size, because the scanned pictures are copied as they are, not saved again.
Questions people ask
- Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
- No. The pages are turned, not redrawn, so the text and scans look exactly as before.
- Can I rotate only one page?
- Yes. Use the buttons under that page. The other pages stay as they are.
- Will the page stay turned when I upload the PDF?
- Yes. The turn is saved in the PDF itself, so every reader, portal and printer shows the page the new way up.
- Is my PDF uploaded?
- No. The PDF is opened and saved by your own browser and never leaves your phone or computer.
- My PDF has a password. Can I rotate it?
- A PDF that asks for a password to open must be unlocked first. A PDF that opens without a password but blocks editing is saved with its pages as pictures, which still read the same.
