…
How to convert images
- Tap Choose photos and pick up to 50: JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, GIF or BMP.
- Pick Save as: JPG, PNG or WEBP.
- If you need to, pick a Pixel size or type a Maximum KB for each photo.
- Tap Convert and download the files one by one or as one ZIP.
Which format to choose
| Save as | Best for | See-through parts |
|---|---|---|
| JPG | Photos, form uploads, sharing | Become white |
| PNG | Screenshots, logos, text, cut-outs | Kept |
| WEBP | Websites and blogs: smaller than JPG at the same quality | Kept |
Most Indian exam and job portals take only JPG, so choose JPG for anything you will upload to a form. More in JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC.
Converting is not renaming
Changing photo.png to photo.jpg changes only the name: the data inside is still PNG, and strict portals reject it. This tool opens each picture and saves it again in the new format, so the file really is what its name says. The photo size checker shows the real format of any file.
Good to know
- An animated GIF comes out as its first frame.
- WEBP can be saved in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Safari opens WEBP but cannot save it, so the choice is greyed out there.
- HEIC photos open in every browser; outside Safari the page loads a HEIC reader first, so the first one takes a few seconds.
- The new files carry no location or camera details.
Worked example
Ten PNG screenshots, 8 MB together, with Save as JPG and a maximum of 200 KB: ten JPGs, each under 200 KB counted as 1,000 bytes a KB, in one ZIP named converted-photos.zip.
Questions people ask
- Which formats can I convert?
- From JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, HEIF, GIF and BMP (and AVIF in browsers that show it), to JPG, PNG or WEBP.
- Can I convert many images at once?
- Yes, up to 50 at a time. Each comes out as its own file, and all of them together as one ZIP.
- Why is my PNG bigger than the JPG it came from?
- PNG keeps every pixel exactly, so a photo saved as PNG is usually several times bigger. PNG suits screenshots and graphics, not photos.
- What happens to transparent parts?
- PNG and WEBP keep them. JPG cannot store transparency, so they become white.
- Is it safe for private photos?
- Yes. Nothing is uploaded: the converting is done by your own browser.
